Design process
Uramoztu believes the key to success is to have a deep know how on how hydrofoils work and how they couple with the rider and kite. In order to do so, Uramoztu has implemented the most modern hydrodynamical and aerodynamical theories into our propietary hydrofoil design tool. Uramoztu’s Velocity Prediction Program (VPP), enables the design team to evaluate the performance of different geometries of hydrofoils in very short time with a good qualitative result. Therefore, we are developing a deep know how of the effect of different parameters that define the shape of wings, fuselaje and masts.
Uramoztu design process follows four main steps once the requirements of the new hydrofoil are closed. The first step is to analyze the success keypoints of the competitors in the niche we are targeting to. The second step is to use our VPP to compare qualitaively thousands of geometries to choose a short list which will go a step further. The third step is to test the short listed geometries in a CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics). By means of the CFD we can fine tune the design, calculate loads and design the internal structure of the hydrfoil. The fourth step is sea testing to confirm or redesign the hydrofoils. The methodology used as well as the engineers come from the aeronautical sector.
